iSTEM (Media)
Introduction
The Dunman Secondary school’s Media Club was prepared to serve the school in various aspects. One of the most important roles of the media club students is to operate the Public Address system to conduct the daily morning assembly. We pride ourselves in carrying out services that are critical to the school in areas of sound and photography. Where stage events are concerned, we are provided with stage training to outline in detail the situation of an actual concert. With proper equipment, we are also able to practice how lights and sound are optimized to provide the best experience for the audience. We are also fortunate enough to receive training to enhance our craft as photographers. With both of our skills combined, we looked forward to creating and capturing the most memorable events. IMDA (Infocomm Media Development Authority) is partnering schools to deepen students’ learning in emerging technologies. We are honored to be selected by IDMA to participate in their new program known as Apple New Media Program. This program provides students with an overview of how to use social media and digital marketing technologies. Through this program, our students learnt how to use social media and digital marketing technologies to create projects that raise awareness for social issues through marketing campaigns. We are glad to be one of the chosen schools to continue the second year program (Advanced Track) with IMDA.
Achievements
Last year, we took part in several competitions. Our Schools Our Stories Competition (OSOS) hosted by the Ministry of Education. The competition aimed to encourage us to develop creativity and teamwork. We benefited by forging closer ties with each other when we collaborated and tried our hands on creativity. We looked forward to more of such experiences.
The Digital for Life Youth Awards, organised by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), recognises outstanding youths who have contributed to building a digitally inclusive society with their creativity and digital skills. We were glad to be awarded the Commendation award.
