Dunman's student leadership philosophy is that every Dunmanite has the potential to be a leader, and every leader strive to serve first, then lead.
Its mission which reads to provide leadership development opportunities to all as everyone has the potential to be a servant leader echoes the school vision. The opportunities reflect the nurturing stand that this school, this institution, adopts in fostering student excellence through the development of its leaders. Not just any type of leaders, but the servant leaders who are ethical change makers.
The framework adopts a 5-step process to nurture our students to becoming effective leaders. At the top of this hierarchy of leaders are the student councillors, followed by the CCA Leaders, Class Committee Members, Sport Leaders and finally the general student population. All these leaders would exhibit the following competencies:

STUDENT LEADERSHIP TRAINING
Personalise training based on the four different stages namely preparatory, acquisition, competent, excellent stages (PACE) for the different groups of student leaders have been carefully mapped out to ensure the student leaders fully benefit from these training.
The PACE training assist the school in designing its student leadership development (SLD) programme to provide for the progressive development of leadership competencies for students and student leader segments as well as determine the desired outcomes of the students' leadership development at the different stages of their education.
To measure the extent of mastery in leadership especially over the years as well as to plan for further development of students based on current level of mastery, a variety of assessment tools have been introduced.
Under assessment of learning (summative and formal), the school have decided to use Inventory Lists & Performance Indicator Scales like the school climate survey, 360 feedback and the Students And Leaders Tracker (SALT).
