Programmes and Activities

The Centre is constantly reviewing our programme to meet the ever changing education landscape. We will be offering an extensive range of programmes and activities for primary, secondary schools and junior colleges in the East Zone to cater to the needs of students, teachers and lab technicians. This is possible through our close working relationship with our various partners.

This year, the partnership of the COE with Science Centre Singapore offers a series of fun-filled and enriching workshops for students and teachers. Together with the collaboration with Amgen Foundation, students get the chance to learn about Biotechnology and its applications in the Life Science Industry. There will also be workshops from the Centre for Research and Applied Learning in Science (CRADLΣ) for students and teachers which are conducted by Science Centre trainers. All workshops will be hosted in Dunman Secondary School, so convenience is at your fingertips!

The collaboration of the COE with Ngee Ann Polytechnic continues to offer professional development opportunities for Science Professionals. This year, we are pleased to announce new partnerships with At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy, School of Applied Science and School of Engineering at Temasek Polytechnic, National Institute of Education (NIE) and the Academy of Singapore Teachers (AST) to provide programmes and courses for both educators and students. All student programmes as well as local teacher training programmes organized by the COE are fully subsidized.

From January to February, there were a total of 7 workshops conducted. They were: Forensic Science, Designing and Implementing an Integrated STEM Curriculum, Nutrition for Optimum Health, Fruit Oil Extraction, Fun with Drones, Fun with Electronics and Leveraging the Singapore Teaching Practice for Effective Teaching and Learning of Electromagnetism (DC Motor). However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all further workshops had to be suspended from the end of February onwards till further notice.

The COE capitalise on this period to consolidate, review our programmes and strategies to go into re-envisioning. Moving forward, we will deploy key strategies to explore into deep science through STEM and integration of STEM with various disciplines to develop a Dunman STEM-infused curriculum. The stretch goal is for our COE to be recognised as a STEM Hub.
