Infocomm Club

Introduction

infocomm_club.jpg
Dunman Infocomm Club (DICC) strives to enrich the IT skills of its members through a progression of trainings, courses, workshops, seminars and competitions. We focus on several areas of development, namely Multimedia (Videography and Photography), Robotics, Coding and Public Address (PA). DICC has its own MacLab. Our MacLab is equipped with state of the art iMacs. Here, students and teachers are trained in developing applications for iOS platform devices such as iPhone, iPod and iPad.

Apart from providing PA and multimedia support in school events, DICC works closely with external partners (Ministry Of Education, and North East Community Development Council) to expose everyone in Dunman to new emerging technologies through workshops and seminars. DICC participate in numerous competitions throughout the year such as the 13th Inter-School Robotics Challenge 2017, i.Code Competition 2017 (won Merit Award) and Singapore Games Creation Competition 2017 (won Merit Award). These competitions aimed to heighten IT awareness; encourage creativity and innovation in IT. PA students had an enriching learning journey to Leo Studio where they had the opportunity to have hands-on experience with the equipment in a professional recording studio. Through these competitions, there were valuable coaching opportunities amongst the students, teachers and the trainers. Our students developed stronger team spirit as they come together to interact, problem solve, collaborate and apply their IT skills to be creators of technology.

DICC did their part for the community as well through collaboration with North East Community Development Council to organise the North East ElderSurf Intergen Bootcamp in 2014 and 2016. Through this bootcamp, our members were given the opportunity to help seniors (aged 50 years and above) overcome their phobia to learn IT skills and thus fostering intergeneration bonds.

We believe in bonding amongst members. This is important as most training is carried out in teams, so members need to be good team members.
